Physical Therapy · Sports & Orthopedic Rehab

Get back to your sport without trading one injury for the next

A thorough orthopedic evaluation, an honest timeline, and a return plan built around the demands of what you actually do.

Most people who call are stuck somewhere in the middle

  • !
You were cleared to return, but it still doesn't feel right.
  • !
The same joint flares up every season.
  • !
You've been given exercises but nobody has watched you do them.
  • !
You're training around the injury instead of through it.
  • !
You've been told to stop doing the thing you most want to do.
  • !
Something else started hurting once you changed how you moved.

The injured part is rarely the whole story

A shoulder that keeps catching, a hip that flares every season, an ankle that never quite got its confidence back. Usually something above or below it is asking that joint to do a job it wasn't built for, and treating only the sore part buys you a few good weeks before it comes back.

So I evaluate the whole chain, then build back toward the specific demands of your sport or your work. Rehab that ends at pain-free is unfinished. It has to end at the thing you actually want to go do.

Your first visit

What actually happens

A real conversation

The history, what you've already tried, and the specific thing you want to get back to. Not exercise in general. The actual sport, position or job.

A thorough assessment

Strength, range, control and tolerance, tested against what your sport or your work asks of you. This is the part people say was more detailed than what they'd had before.

The explanation

What's driving it, what the imaging does and doesn't mean, and an honest read on the timeline.

A plan that progresses

What we do here, what you do between sessions, and what has to be true before each step up in load.

What I work with

Shoulder and rotator cuff

Impingement, cuff injuries, and the shoulder that catches overhead.

Hip and groin

Including the hip pain that turns out to be coming from the back.

Knee injuries

Ligament and meniscus rehab, kneecap pain, and the knee that swells after every game.

Ankle and foot

Sprains that keep recurring, Achilles problems, and plantar heel pain.

Post-operative rehab

A structured return after a repair or reconstruction, at the pace the tissue allows.

Overuse and load problems

Tendon pain and stress injuries from doing too much too fast.

Before you book

How long until I'm back?

It depends on the tissue and on what you're going back to, and anyone who gives you a number before evaluating you is guessing. I'll give you a range after the first session and update it honestly as we go.

Do you take insurance?

No. Working outside insurance means the hour is yours and the plan isn't built around billing codes.

Do I need a referral or imaging first?

BEN TO CONFIRM - do not publish. Answer depends on North Carolina direct access rules and Ben's own policy.

Can you come to me?

Yes. I treat at the Levin JCC in Durham and travel to clients across Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Hillsborough.

What if you don't think you can help?

I will tell you on the first call and point you toward who can. I would rather send you to the right person than take your money.

Start with a conversation

Tell me what's going on and what you're trying to get back to, and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person to help.
